Example Proposal
- To set up a professional website
- The website will be built using Joomla! Content Management System (CMS).
- The client will be able to administrate appropriate sections of the website in order to alter prices and other details that may change regularly. Sections that rely on the client to produce the content will be set up in this way.
- Thought will be given to how the site might be expandable in the future and the site will be built to take into account potential growth.
- The initial quote will be for (x) pages. This will include access to functions such as online maps, photo galleries, latest news pages, contact details etc. If online forms are required, these will be quoted for separately.
- The quote will include a two stage consultation. An initial consultation to agree the direction, look and content to be included in the site and a second consultation to fine tune the site before commissioning.
- The hosting is provided at a cost of £200/year for 500Mb (this should be more than ample space for most brochure applications). This hosting includes monthly backups of the site and updating of the Joomla! software when stable updates are made available.
Artwork/Photography
- Appropriation of artwork & photography will be discussed at the initial consultation. If photography or logo creation is required, this will be quoted for separately.
Search Engine Optimisation
- The site will be constructed in such a way as to optimise its suitability to be ranked highly in search engine listings. This is not a guarantee of a high placing but removes a technical barrier that some sites have inadvertently built in.
Cross Browser Compatibility
- The site we design will be tested with Internet Explorer 8 (IE8), IE7, Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera. It will also be suitable for browsing using most mobile phones (though it will not be optimised for mobile phones unless specifically requested). IE6 compatability can be built in on request and will be quoted for/discussed separately.
- We do not guarantee the site to be W3C standards compliant. Although we will use web standards where possible, this is a not a priority (N.B. many leading edge websites are not standards compliant e.g. www.bbc.co.uk, www.google.com.)
Hosting
- The hosting for the site will be organised by us. This allows us to host the site in an environment we can know well and service appropriately. We will ensure that the site is backed up monthly and on demand (say after a lot of editing or updating has been done by the client).
Training
- The price includes a half day of training in using and updating the information on the site.
Updating/Maintenance
- Once the site has been commissioned, further minor modifications or troubleshooting required in the first month of running will be included in the initial quote. After that, they will be charged at £50/hour.
- Where content of any kind from the client is required mutually acceptable timescales for this are agreed in advance. Should these be missed by the client we reserve the right to make a reasonable re-start cost and in extreme situations where we have done the majority of the work we reserve the right to charge a proportion related to the work done of the quoted price.
- Where the client already has the domain name registered, full details must be supplied on request by us. If these are unavailable for any reason, an extra charge will be made in order for us to administrate this issue.
