About Us
Background
TribeWeb started trading in 2008 and since then has been steadily growing in breadth of experience and reputation. Demand for its services has grown to the extent that TribeWeb has recently become a fully-fledged web design and consultancy business with an expanding team of established and expert associates.
Projects that TribeWeb has been involved with have developed in complexity having covered simple brochure sites to now undertaking commissions and consultancy for bodies in both the private and public sector.
The background of the owner, Richard Stephenson is in education, public and the voluntary sectors and it is in these areas that TribeWeb has especially developed. We intuitively know and understand the world that these types of organisations occupy and can offer much more than just a website alone. In addition to the usual aspects of website development, our experience covers the following areas.
- Using all aspects of ICT, but especially Web based systems to develop learning communities;
- Appraising and implementing Virtual Learning Environments;
- Implementing and promoting online collaborative environments;
- Developing systems of feedback and assessment;
- Working with practitioners and their clients including those with learning disabilities.
Our Philosophy
- We really enjoy what we do whether it's finishing a project with a sense of satisfaction or developing and building strong partnerships with our clients. We especially enjoy the privilege of getting to know the world that our clients inhabit and understanding what they want their website to do from their point of view. We ensure that we understand the project presented to us and we love to help shape it where necessary. We believe strongly that collaborative approaches achieve much more and we will give the time and energy to ensuring that we work openly and cooperatively. We understand that websites on their own do not build communities but we do recognise that they catalyse community-building activity and we understand our position in relation to each stakeholder involved in the project.
- To that end, all our sites are designed with the end user in mind. We use content templates and customise editor functionality to ensure that the 'backend' of the site is as user friendly as the front. Many website companies want repeat business making alterations to sites – TribeWeb strives to get the site architecture right from the start and make sure the site works for the client first and foremost.
- Our commitment to using Open Source software goes beyond the obvious practical benefits. It means we can match the collaborative way in which the software was developed to the collaborative environment that is being implemented on behalf of the client. Coupled with our cooperative and open approach to the projects we undertake, this ensures there is integrity in all aspects of the solution that we offer.
